We've all heard, especially lately, about stars who have no regard for their fans. I guess the most obvious case in recent time is Justin Bieber who, has shown up hours late for a concert. Now, Bieber didn't invent keeping loyal fans waiting, but I think he's taken it to a new level. But there are artists out there who obviously really do care about and respect their fans. Case in point: Tom Petty.

Wednesday night (06/12/2013) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were playing the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles and part of the way into the show, the fire marshal halted the concert because a small fire was reported in the building.

Now, a lot of artists would have called that the end of the show and moved on. I mean, after all, they did go out and perform. Tom Petty is not made like that. Instead of saying, "Too bad", Petty is giving a full refund to everyone.

Here is part of his statement:

The satisfaction of fans is of paramount importance to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the band shares the frustration of the fans in attendance that evening who deserved to experience the entire performance.” Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

And there you have part of the reason Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have been around since 1978. I think it also speaks volumes about Tom Petty that the line-up of The Heartbreakers has changed very little over the years. Class move Mr. Petty and company!

Besides, anybody who has the good taste to play a Rickenbacker is tops in my book!
