I don't even know why this memory popped into my head, but here goes:

I was winter of 1963 and my family was on a hunting trip near Woodville, Texas. One of my favorite cousins was there with us. At the time, he was a test driver for Ford. At the time, I thought that was the coolest job in the world. My cousin told me that he was test driving a car that I would really love and Ford was very very excited about unveiling in a few months.

I remembered the conversation and in April of 1964, the car had a limited release as a 1964 1/2 model.

I remember my cousin telling me it was Ford's entry into the world of 'sports cars' and it was designed and released in response to Chevrolet's Corvette. I couldn't wait to see it and when it came out I had to have one. Of course, I couldn't drive at the time so, needless to say, my parents put the nix on that little dream.

My cousin went on to own a Ford dealership and when he retired, he used a lot of his property to house exotic animals.

Meanwhile, I still don't have a mustang. Still, it's a cool memory. I'm still impressed with the fact that he was a test driver. I wonder if it's too late for me to do that. No, wait...I want to be one of those guys on 'Myth Busters.'...or a cowboy ( if you know me, you know what a mis-match that would be.

When I decide what I want to be when I grow up, I'll get back to you.
