In honor of police week, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be holding a memorial service for all the deputies they have lost through the years.

National Police Week starts on Monday and we all need to take some time to thank the men and women of law enforcement in our area. Each day, members of law enforcement in our area do the jobs that none of us want to do. Their lives may not be in danger every day, but any situation can turn deadly with no notice at all. Back in 1962, President John F. Kennedy  proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week.  It is a time, of course, to remember all those who have fallen in the line of duty while protecting us and our rights.
