Wow. Stephen Stills has found people he can get along with long enough to record a new record! One is from a 60's band, the other played one of his first gigs right here in Lake Charles at Contraband Days.

The band is called The Rides.

Back in the heady 60's there was a band called The Electric Flag. Now, they didn't have any hits, but their line-up was very well respected. Their keyboard player, Barry Goldberg has jammed with all the greats.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the 33 year old blues whiz guitarist from Shreveport, has set the world on fire and is considered by many to be one of the finest blues guys of the younger set.

Kenny played at Contraband Days when he was in his early 20's and just getting started. He was a nice guy back then. I hope he still is.

That brings us to Stills. Buffalo Springfield, Manassas, Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young and everyone else. One thing about Stills is the persistent rumor that he is an ego manic and no one can get along with him. Is that just rumor? Don't know, but the rumor sure seems to be all over the place.

Having said that, the man is very talented. With Goldberg and Shepherd behind him, it will be interesting to see what kind of sound they will have.
