The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting involving one of their Deputies.  The incident happened in New LLano around 4 p.m. yesterday.

A Deputy responded to a domestic disturbance call and upon arrival he only had seconds to react.  As soon as he exited his cruiser he was confronted by the suspect, Bobby Hinton, 60.

Immediately, Hinton pulled out a hand gun and fired 2 shots at the Deputy.  One round struck the deputy in the forearm and the other round struck his cruiser.

The Deputy returned fire, hitting Hinton. Both were transported to Byrd Regional Hospital for their wounds.

Hinton was later pronounced dead.

The deputy is listed in stable condition.
