Seven Movies that Make Guys Cry
Okay, I'm a movie snob and I tend to avoid movies that are designed to massage one's tear-ducts, but I also have to admit that, there are movies like "Marley and Me' that I want to hate, but can't.
Here are 7 movies that make guys cry:
7. UP -
Boy, this one moves in for the kill early on. I knew they were going to kill off the wife and yet, I still cried like a baby when they did the deed. Still, great family movie.
6. Spartacus -
I don't know why this is on the list. I don't recall crying during any gladiator movie, ever.
5. Rocky-
I don't know why this is on the list. I don't remember crying during any boxing movie, ever. Well, okay, maybe I cried a little during 'The Champ' with Jackie Cooper and Wallace Beery, but that was only because Wallace Beery was such a cold-hearted jerk in real life and there he was pretending to care about the kid. Cooper says that Beery barely spoke to him and would, from time to time, say, 'get this kid away from me.' What does that have to do with 'Rocky?' Nothing, but I thought you wanted to talk about crying.
4. Rudy -
Well of course we cry during 'Rudy.' It's about sports and underdogs and victory and such. I think most of us knew we were going to cry before we even saw the movie.
3. Saving Private Ryan -
Great movie about all the best in us. Of course we cry. The whole time you're watching the movie you keep thinking, 'Hey, this really happened." hard to beat a true story about courage, valor and sacrifice.
2. The Pride of the Yankees -
Another great tear-jerker with a lot of heart. Every time I watch it, I think, "Maybe he won't get sick this time." I don't want to spoil it for you, but no matter how many times you watch it, he still gets sick.
1. Marley and Me-
Let's face it, if this wasn't a true story, it would have been a real phony attempt to make the audience well up. The thing is, it is a true story and I loved it. I watched it 3 times while on a cruise to the Bahamas. If you've ever been on a cruise you know how it is. they show 3 movies for days on end.
It also helped that I owned a dog a lot like Marley. Pass the tissues, please.
And one from my own personal list:
Old Yeller- Disney was notorious for making kids cry. Think about it. Bambi, The Rescuers and so many other Disney movies had at least one scene where the grown-ups and kids in the audience would be boo-hooing.
I still can't watch the 'corn crib' scene in Old Yeller.
