Because of a "series of unfortunate events", Sean Payton will be a free agent when his suspension ends. Payton says he doesn't plan to go anywhere..

Granted, Payton signed a contract with the Saints, but that was before the big Bountygate scandal. That contract was voided since the scandal rock the Saints, but the rendering of the contract as null and void didn't have anything to do with the scandal. At least not directly. Once again the main culprit is "legaleze."

It seems that Payton, according to the contract, would be free to become a free agent if Saints G.M. Mickey Loomis were suspended, fired or left the team for any reason. And, bos and girls, that's exactly what happened.

Payton says he has no plans to take advantage of the technicality. Payton added that he has a close relationship with the city as well as with the team owners, the Benson family.

Payton has been working for team owner Tom Benson's NBA franchise, the New Orleans Hornets, in the interim.
