The Saints started the draft offensively minded (WR Brandin Cooks) but quickly tuned to take a defensive back and line backer with thier 2nd and third pick.

In the 2nd Round of the NFL draft the Saints took  Nebraska DB Stanley Jean-Baptiste. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton summarized the pic saying "His skill set as a young player and what we've seen is something that you get excited about, especially at that position because I mentioned last night there are certain positions, the pass rushers, the left tackles, the cornerbacks. Those (positions) are harder to find and they typically go pretty quick in the draft, especially the first day and a half or two days.”

The next time the Saints got a pick was in the 4th round and they took California LB Khairi Fortt. Fortt is 6'2", 245 pounds that NFL.com describes as a "speedy, finesse, see-and-go reactor who looks the part and has intriguing, starter-caliber athleticism to fit on the weak side in a fast-flowing 4-3 where he's freed up to chase the ball. Must sharpen his eyes and instincts to reach his potential."
