Beginning Monday, June 6 the intersection of Clarence St. and Ryan St. will be temporarily closed to thru traffic in conjunction with the Ryan Streetscape Phase II construction. Work on this intersection is expected to continue seven days a week, for approximately 45 to 60 days. Total project construction will take approximately 130 working days.

Traffic detour signs will be placed in the vicinity of the affected areas that are temporarily closed to vehicular traffic.

“The Ryan Streetscape project has helped calm traffic and provide pedestrian friendly improvements that have bolstered economic development and revitalized the downtown district,” said Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach. “This project is part of our plan to continue these improvements throughout the downtown area.”

The Ryan Streetscape Phase II enhancements from Clarence Street to the Pithon Coulee Bridge include reconstruction of the intersection to include special pavers in sidewalks and crosswalks. The scope of the work will also include overhead decorative lamp posts, traffic signal modifications, drainage, and improved utility access and pavement markings.
