I guess just about everyone is familiar with the song "Blueberry Hill." I've hosted oldies shows all over the country, and that one song is one of the most requested oldies of all time. The man who gave us that song, Antoine "Fats" Domino, has passed away at the age of 89.

Fats was born in the 9th ward in New Orleans in 1928 and, over the course of a very long career, cranked out 25 gold singles and sold over 50 million albums. He was one of the original pioneers of rock, and many rock historians give Fats credit for having the first rock song. It was a little ditty called "The Fat Man", and it predated other rock songs by several years.

Fats Domino was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 1986, and one year later, in 1987, Domino was given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Domino is survived by his wife, Rosemary Hall, and eight children.
