If you ask most New Orleans Saints fans former defensive coordinator Rob Ryan could not coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Obviously the athletic department at Tulane University is not familiar with Ryan's work or they believe that Saint's fans assessments of his ability to coach are greatly under estimated.

According to Sports Illustrated Rob Ryan could be considered as a viable candidate to replace current Green Wave Head Coach Curtis Johnson. We are probably putting the cart way ahead of the horse here since Johnson has not been fired at Tulane as of this morning. By this evening that could be a different story.

Many sources in New Orleans are reporting that Johnson will be out at Tulane following the Green Wave's game against Tulsa which has a kickoff scheduled for 7pm tonight in New Orleans.  The Green Wave is has a record of three wins and eight losses on this years campaign and speculation is that another lackluster year will be end of the Johnson era. Johnson has a career record of 15 wins and 33 loses while at Tulane.

If you're wondering about Ryan's credentials he has not coached at the collegiate level since 1999. He was the defensive coordinator for Oklahoma State from 1997 to 1999. Before that he coached at Western Kentucky, Ohio State, and Tennessee State.
