This is hardly the surprise move of the year, but former Saint's defensive coach Rob Ryan has found gainful employment via his twin brother, Rex, with the Buffalo Bills. According to the press release, Rob will be serving as the Bill's assistant head coach and his duties will, of course, include having more than a little input on the team's defense.

This is not the first time to work together for the brothers Ryan. Their partnership goes back to 1994 when they both served as assistants on their father's staff in Arizona. Their father was, of course, Buddy Ryan.

You will recall that Rob Ryan was fired as the New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator back in mid-November. He was dismissed with the Saints defense ranking last in the NFL in yards and points allowed. Shortly after being fired in New Orleans, Ryan visited Buffalo and spent a few days attending Bills practices.

Rob Ryan has 28 years of coaching experience, including 17 at the NFL level. He won two Super Bowl titles as a linebackers coach in New England from 2000-03.

He's also had stops in Oakland, Cleveland and Dallas. In 2013, Ryan's first season in New Orleans, the Saints finished fourth in yards allowed, jumping 28 spots in the rankings from the previous year.

What is unclear now is, what will happen to the Bills current defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman. When asked about that in a press conference, Rex Ryan declined to comment saying the news had not yet been announced to the rest of the Bills' line-up. I'm sure we'll see some restructuring in the Bills' coaching line-up in the ensuing weeks.
