Derrick Wayne Shuff, 26, of Roanoke was just another customer at Peto's Truck Stop on Sunday until he went to pay his bill. It was then that a  very alert cashier called him out on the cash he used to pay that bill. It seems the money in question wasn't quite up to federal standards. Authorities say that when the clerk pointed out the problem, Shuff then tried to destroy the bogus bills.

Shuff was arrested and charged with monetary instrument abuse and obstruction of justice after he attempted to make a purchase using a counterfeit one hundred dollar bill, according to JDSO spokesman Chris Ivey.

Shuff is being held at the Jeff Davis Parish jail with no bond and faces some very serious federal charges. The U.S. Mint is funny about people trying to "roll their own at home."
