If you had a chance to address  a joint meeting of the Imperial Calcasieu Regional Planning and Development Commission (IMCAL) and the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, what would you tell them we need in Calcasieu Parish?

Well, about 300 residents did just that, and this is what they had to say.

Based on some 300 responses from their February meeting and online surveys, the top three things people are dissatisfied with are a lack of bike paths, sidewalks for pedestrians, and overall not having complete streets.

Other items discussed in the joint meeting were the Cove Lane Interchange, and the massive growth potential in the lake area that will, of course, lead to even more traffic problems. According to those in the know and all the business projections for our area, we should have a population growth of about 37% by the year 2040.

More information about the long range transportation plan for Calcasieu Parish will be available throughout the planning process over the next six months by contacting IMCAL at imcal@imcal.org on the website www.imcal.webs.com or by following IMCAL on Facebook.
