‘Pothole Robin Hood’ Steals From the City and Patches 100 Potholes on His Own

He steals asphalt from the city to pave potholes on city streets.  Is he a hero or a criminal?  That's what the city of Jackson, Miss., will have to figure out.  In the meantime, the streets seem a little smoother.  So what's this "Pothole Robin Hood's" story?

Ron Chane was just a guy who seemed to get fed up with driving over potholes.  So he stole some of the city's asphalt and, with the help of his girlfriend, started filling the potholes himself.  The afterward, just to stick a finger in their eye, spray paints the words "Citizen Fixed" and circles his handiwork.  His goal was to fill 100 potholes.

He filled 101.  It cost him $40 (plus the stolen asphalt, obviously).

As you can see in the video, it isn't the best paving job in the world, but it's not bad for an amateur, and it's certainly better than an open hole in the world.

According to ABC News and their affiliate WAPT in Jackson, the city isn't sure how he stole the asphalt, and it's not clear whether or not they'll try to charge him with a crime.  And could they?  All he really did was take public property and do the city's job for them.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
