Mardi Gras is a lot of fun, but, let's face it, it's certainly not exactly kid or family friendly for the most part. It can get kind of rough out on the street and between some of the costumes and the drinking, it may be hard to find a place for you and the kids along the parade route. You'll be happy to know that, once again this year, there will be a "safe zone" for kids and families.

The area, quite simply known as "The Zone" will be set aside for kids and families. The Zone will be alcohol and tobacco free and will offer a great location for viewing the parade. The Zone will be located in the empty parking lot between the Charleston Building and the Parish Courthouse on Ryan.

The Zone will be set up from noon to 4 p.m. on Fat Tuesday and will offer more than just a good vantage point for the parade. The Zone will also include a live DJ, bounce houses, train rides, face painting and a game truck,

Kids will also find snacks like pizza, soft drinks and cotton candy in the Zone.
