Paul McCartney revealed that he and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards came up with an outlandish business idea while spending time together on vacation recently. They met most days while on the Turks and Caicos Islands, near the Bahamas.

“[We were] designing portable dog kennels that were inflatable,” McCartney said during an appearance on the WTF podcast. “It was a pretty good idea, we thought. … We got round to if you had one you could custom-make them for Dalmatians to be polka dot. It was a good idea, I thought.”

He admitted the pair didn’t follow through with the concept, and, asked if weed had been involved in discussions, he replied, “In the kennels? In the creative process, it was required.”

McCartney went on to discuss the perceived rivalry between the Beatles and the Stones in the ‘60s. “The legend grew that there was a rivalry and everything, but it was the opposite,” he said. “If we had an album coming out on Aug. 28, we’d ring them and say, ‘Have you got anything coming out?’ And they’d say, ‘Yeah, we’ve got something coming out Aug. 17,’ so we’d put ours back a bit. It was a nice scene.”

The fact that the Stones were still touring made McCartney wish his old band was still working, he said. "Unfortunately, two of mine are dead," he said. "It would be fantastic if we still had the Beatles together to tour.”

McCartney – who recently told of seeing “God” during a ‘60s hallucinogen trip – released his new album, Egypt Station, today. He’ll mark the event with a secret show in New York City that will be livestreamed on YouTube. He also recently added a short run of U.S. dates to his Freshen Up tour.
