A Lake Charles man was confronted by a resident and shot on Thursday morning after a forced entry into a home.

Lake Charles Police responded to a shooting at 603 Madeline St, on Thursday, at 11:02 a.m. Upon arrival, the first responding officer found the resident of the home uninjured and a person on the hallway floor who had been shot, 23-year-old Isaiah Williams of Lake Charles. Officers then secured the home and removed the resident. An ambulance transported Williams to a local hospital where he later died.

Investigations learned,

Two unknown black males were seen going to the rear of the residence. Forced entry was made into the home through the back door. One of the two persons came into contact with the resident inside the home. Once in the home that person was confronted by the resident and shot. The other subject was seen fleeing on foot running north on Common St. His identity has not yet been confirmed. He is wanted for questioning.

The incident is still under investigation.
