Local law enforcement agencies in Lake Charles had prepared themselves for the possibility of an active shooter at a local hospital on the morning of Thursday, October 25. Luckily, that was not the case.

At approximately 10:10 am, the Lake Charles Police Department was called out to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, located at 1701 Oak Park Boulevard, "in reference to a man with a gun", said a media release.

With the assistance from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the "person of interest was located" and detained by the LCPD SWAT Team. The man who was accused of having a gun didn't have a gun. A gun was not discovered at any point during the investigation.

The incident is still under investigation.
