Louisiana politics. Those two words can conjure up a whole circus of ideas -- or maybe just ideas of a circus. But a new survey conducted by WalletHub shows that when compared to the rest of the nation, Louisiana residents are pretty highly engaged in their political processes.

Louisiana tied for 14th out of 51 in the survey, along with Michigan.  (The survey counted all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia.)

What's it all based on? Well, voter registration is part, plus the amount of people who actually show up to the polls during elections. The amount people donated to campaigns comes into play. They also measured the 2008 elections against the 2012 elections to see how engagement changed between midterm elections and a presidential election.

Massachusetts ends up being the nation's most politically engaged state, while West Virginia brings up the rear of the survey.
