The surviving Monkees were back in the studio recently and now they have a brand new album and single on the market. I'm not really sure exactly what format a station would need to be to play the new song, but there you have it.

The new song entitled, "She Makes Me Laugh", is really almost a throwback to the groups earlier days. It sounds like it could have been on one of their albums back in the 60s and the comic book graphics just add to that feeling of nostalgia.

Having said that, it's interesting to note that the latest effort by The Monkees was written by Rivers Cuomo of Weezer. In fact, quite a few songs on their new album were pinned by contemporary song writers. Will we see another resurgence of interest in the group like we did when MTV began showing the old Monkees episodes back in the 80s? Probably not, but the new single and video do take us back to their hey day and it's just fun to watch.
