Jimmy Ruffin, whose 1966 hit 'What Becomes of the Broken Hearted' rose to #7 in September of that year, has died at the age of 78.

In addition to 'What Becomes of the Broken Hearted', Ruffin had lesser hits like 'I've Passed This Way Before' and "Hold on to My Love'. The later was produced by Robin Gibb of the Bee Gee's.

Jimmy Ruffin, the Motown singer whose hits include "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" and "Hold on to My Love," died Monday in a Las Vegas hospital. He was 78.

There were no details about the cause of death.

Ruffin's younger brother, David, was lead vocalist for The Temptations.
