Following complaints from local residents, CPSO arrested John Steve Blount for financial crimes

From Kim Meyers with the CPSO

After receiving complaints, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated John Steve Blount, 54, 4075 Longpine Lane, Moss Bluff, for stealing funds given to him for investment.  The investigation revealed Blount takes the money from victims and leads them to believe he will invest it into safe investment accounts with higher yields and limited risk.  Subsequently the victims learned that the funds were not invested nor are they available to the victims.

Blount was arrested Wednesday, December 17 and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.  He is being charged with 2 counts of theft over $1,500.

Judge Sharon Wilson set his bond at $350,000.

Blount operates under at least two company names – MB Development Enterprises and Professional Retirement Consultants.   If anyone has been victimized by Blount, they are urged to contact the lead investigator on this case, Sgt. Joey Williams, at 493-3214.

The FBI is also investigating Blount on unspecified charges.
