It's going to be one more day before we start to dry out from all the rain we've had lately. After some pretty torrential downpours over the weekend, our chance of precipitation for today stands at 80% and we all need to be ready for more flooding.

Folks in Westlake seem especially hard hit and many homes in that area have taken on a great deal of water over the weekend. To add to the problem, traffic moving down those already flooded streets are pushing yet more water into homes that are already flooded.

While the whole area has been inundated with rain for the past several days, some areas have had a lot more rain than others. According to KPLC:

Some areas of SW Louisiana have already seen 6 to 11 inches of rain from over the weekend, so any additional rain today will only aggravate the flooding problems.

The forecast calls for additional storms to continue developing along and ahead of a cold front this morning with storms becoming more numerous through the morning hours.

During these storms, we could even have some small hail and more of that cloud to ground lightning that we saw and heard all weekend. Storms were so heavy yesterday that Contraband Days was a total rain out.

All this weather is being triggered by a cool front that should finish moving through the area today. If it's any consolation, we should see much nicer weather after mid-week and right through the weekend.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 with locally higher amounts of up to 5 inches will be possible today.
