Not unlike what occurred following the sudden and sad passing of singing superstar Whitney Houston on the eve of this year’s Grammys, the sale of Monkees albums spiked tremendously after the death of Davy Jones last week. According to Billboard, the 60’s foursome landed back on the Billboard 200 album sales chart for the fist time since 2003 with the re-entry of The Best of The Monkees, which climbed to No. 20 on the chart, selling 17,000 copies since last week. Collectively, the Monkees albums sold 29,000 copies in the week ending March 4.
