There's certainly a lot more to this story than meets the eye. 16 year-old Alexis Paige Taylor disappeared on Sunday, June 25, and an all out search was underway for the missing teen. There is good news in this case in that, thanks to some astute police work, Alexis was located in Colorado along with 36-year-old convicted sex offender Stephen J. Broussard.

In a statement to our friends at KPLC, Sheriff Tony Mancuso said,

“I’m so pleased this 16-year-old girl will be returning to Lake Charles safely. And I am so proud of our detectives who have been working on this case non-stop since Sunday. Their relentless efforts are the reason this young girl was found safe and we have a happy ending to this nightmare.”

Thanks to great work on the part of local detectives led by Greg Jordan, the missing teen was found in Boulder County, Colorado yesterday (Thursday). Early indications are that Paige was not kidnapped, but ran away with the convicted felon.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson, Kim Myers released a statement regarding the case:

Detective Greg Jordan was the lead investigator and was assisted by other detectives from multiple investigative units at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office who worked long hours to ensure the juvenile's safe return.

There's no doubt that this drama will continue to play out over the next several days as more details of the event are made public.
