Meteor Shower Visible Saturday Night

Grab a lawn chair and a blanket Saturday night ... then set it up outside and get ready for a great show as the 2014 Geminid meteor shower will peak during the night. The Lake Charles weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and near perfect conditions with a low of only 51 degrees for Saturday night/ Sunday morning.

The moons light will obstruct some of the show after midnight. This one will be perfect for the kids because there should be activity early in the evening. It's possible to see 12-14 meteors per hour early. According to the American Meteor Society the meteors early in the evening will be the most long lasting. The rate though will increase to almost 60 per hour between midnight and 2 a.m.. The best viewing will be in rural areas not illuminated by street lights.
