The Cowboys have their playoff destiny in their own hands once again as they travel to Hammond to face the Southeastern LA Lions Saturday. Kickoff is at 2:30pm from Strawberry Stadium. The Pokes sit alone at the top of the Southland Conference standings at 5-1 thanks to Nicholls State's win over Incarnate Word last week. If McNeese wins out, they will be the 2018 SLC champs and will receive the conference's automatic playoff bid. The Cowboys are 6-2 overall and ranked 11/12 in the FCS polls. SLU is 3-6 overall and 3-4 in SLC play.

The Pokes will be facing one of the best quarterbacks in the FCS in Southeastern's Chason Virgil. He has thrown for 2679 yards ranking him 3rd in the FCS in passing yardage. The Lions have a very good receiving corp led by returning All-American wideout Juwan Petit-Frere with 40 catches for 678 yards.

The Cowboys beat SLU last year in Lake Charles 13-3, but have lost the last 3 in Hammond. McNeese is coming off a tough 23-21 win over Central Arkansas last week while Southeastern lost to Sam Houston State. Airtime is 1:30pm with kickoff at 2:30pm on 92.9 The Lake and 929thelake.com.
