The McNeese Cowboys improved to 2-0 on the season and most importantly, in conference play, as they beat the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 28-14 Saturday evening in Nacogdoches.

There were two big plays that sparked the Pokes, one of offense and one on defense. With the Lumberjacks at the Mcneese 1-yard line in the 1st quarter, Bo Brown caused a fumble by SFA quarterback Zach Conque. Wallace Scott scooped up the loose ball and ran 97 yards for a touchdown. The 2nd big play occurred in the 4th quarter with the Cowboys up 21-14. QB Daniel Sams ran 76 yards for the game's final score, giving the Cowboys the 28-14 win.

This Saturday, the Cowboys return home for a non conference game with the Mississippi College Choctaws. Air time is 5 p.m. with kickoff at 6 p.m. You can hear the game on 92.9 The Lake and at 929thelake.com.
