The McNeese Cowboys head to Abilene, Texas, for a Saturday afternoon game with the Abilene Christian University Wildcats. The Pokes are 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the Southland Conference. A victory would set up a chance to claim the SLC championship at home next week against Sam Houston State.

The Cowboys are coming off of a 47-27 win over Northwestern State last week at home. It was the most points scored by the offense, but it was also the most points the defense has given up. Ryan Ross has taken over the rushing lead with 570 yards, 19 more than Daniel Sams. Sams has completed 92 passes in 172 attempts for 1098 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions. Dominique Hill leads the team in tackles with 45.

The Wildcats are 2-5, 2-4 in the conference. They have lost four in a row. The Cowboys lead the series 2-0 and will be playing in Abilene for the first time. The Pokes won in Lake Charles last year, 31-20.

With a win, Cowboys head coach Matt Viator would become the all-time leader in Southland Conference league games for a head coach with 52 wins. Airtime is 1:30 p.m with kickoff at 2:30 p.m. on 92.9 The Lake, and 929thelake.com!
