The McNeese Cowboys continue their preseason preparations under first year head coach Lance Guidry. The Pokes will be holding their first public scrimmage on Saturday evening at 6pm. This will give the fans a chance to see the 2016 version of the team for the first time.

McNeese sits in the 11th spot in the first STATS FCS poll released Tuesday. The Cowboys have been ranked in 36 consecutive polls. Southland Conference rival Sam Houston State holds down the #2 spot, with North Dakota State in the top position. The Cowboys were picked to finish in second place in the preseason Southland Conference poll right behind Sam Houston State.

The Pokes return 13 starters in 2016, 6 on offense, 6 on defense, and 1 special teams player. McNeese finished last season at 10-1 and 9-0 in the SLC. The first game of the season will be on Sept 3 at Cowboy Stadium against Tarleton State. All games can be heard on 92.9 The Lake and at 929thelake.com.
