LSU Football Ranked No. 3 by ‘Blue Ribbon’
If you bleed Purple and Gold, we know you can't wait for football season to start again. The Blue Ribbon ranking of teams is out and LSU is right there in the Top 10!
BATON ROUGE – LSU has been selected as a pre-season top 5 pick by another national publication as Blue Ribbon Yearbook tabbed the Tigers as the nation’s No. 3 team heading into the 2011 season.
Oklahoma is ranked first in the Blue Ribbon Top 25. LSU is one of six Southeastern Conference teams in the poll with Alabama leading the way at No. 2. LSU is followed by South Carolina No. 10, Arkansas No. 14, Georgia No. 16, and Mississippi State No. 21.
Oregon, LSU’s season-opening opponent, is ranked No. 5, while West Virginia, the Tigers’ opponent on Sept. 24, is ranked No. 23. In all, LSU will face five teams in the Blue Ribbon Yearbook Top 25.
LSU returns 16 starters (9 offense, 7 defense) and 52 letterwinners from last year’s team that posted an 11-2 overall record and finished the season ranked No. 8 in the nation.
