LSU is reporting that football legend Billy Cannon has been hospitalized due to a stroke.  The family informed LSU that Cannon is alert and resting.

Cannon , who is 75 years old, won the Heisman trophy in 1959 while playing for the Tigers.  Cannon went on to play in the old AFL with the Houston Oilers and Oakland Raiders and when the league was switched to the NFL, Cannon played with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1970.

Billy Cannon was currently working at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, where he is director of the prison's dental program before he suffered his stroke yesterday.
