Lake Charels, La. - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office was originally set to continue gathering donations for those affected by Hurricane Harvey, but because they weren't prepared or equipped to handle the magnitude of donations, Church of the King of Lake Charles, located at 305 N. Ryan Street, stepped in to accept all donations.

Church of the King of Lake Charles will take non-perishable items Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and they will work with "all denominations and many charitable organizations throughout the parish," to ensure the "needs of first responders and their families and anyone affect by Hurricane Harvey are met, rather they're from Louisiana or Texas.

“It is heartwarming to see so many people and organizations that want to help these evacuees but we quickly realized we would not be able to handle all the donations by ourselves. We are so thankful the Church of the King of Lake Charles has agreed to partner with us in this endeavor." - Sheriff Tony Mancuso
