Just this Friday and Saturday, everyone was complaining about how hot and humid it was. Now, we all knew that there was a cold front on the way and it got here almost a day early and now it looks like there might be a light freeze tonight.

Now, I'm not going say not to protect your plants and pets, but the good news is that, since the low is only going to be 30 we're not going to have a hard freeze. The actual time of that freeze warning begins around 1 a.m. and it should last until sunrise or so the next day. Not a long time to freeze, but too long for your less hardy plants. The point is that just leaving those outside taps dripping should be more than enough.

If you're not a particularly big fan of colder weather, you'll be happy to know that there will be a pretty fast warm-up right after the cold front. Following that, we'll be back to the more familiar weather pattern of mostly very mild weather with the occasional cool front moving down and bringing some rain with it.

If it helps any, the Farmer's Almanac is predicting a very mild winter and temperature averages about 8 degrees higher than average. I guess that might be really good news for folks who just can't stand the cold weather. Also, according to the almanac, the whole winter will either be right at average or a few degrees above average for the remainder of the winter.
