Library Offers ‘Food for Fines’ — Make a Donation and Cut Your Fine

The Calcasieu Parish Public Library has come up with a great plan to reduce people's library fines and help the hungry right here in the Lake Area. It's called "Food for Fines' and you can get $5 off your library fine just for donating at the local library.

The Calcasieu Parish Library is teaming up with the Faith and Friends Food Pantry to provide a great service to the community. Library patrons can simply take a non-perishable food item to any branch of the library and get $5 off their library fine.

Now I know you've got to be wondering whether you get additional discounts if you take in a bunch of items, but that's not the way it works. Whether you donate one can or a hundred, you still only get $5 off your fine, but the important thing is that you are helping people right here in the community. This program is running through April 5, and it's at all Calcasieu Public Library locations.
