If I asked you, "What rock star is working on an opera?" Your first response would, no doubt be, "the bass player for Led Zeppelin!" Well, you would be right. John Paul Jones is writing an opera and it's not based on any Led Zep material.

Jones says the opera  is based on August Strindberg's 'The Ghost Sonata. Don't feel bad, we had to look it up too. That's why we included the link.

When asked why he wanted to write an opera, Jones replied, "It's unlike anything else. It's the emotion, the passion."

Now, actually writing a piece of music on the scale of opera is not exactly like writing your typical rock tune. It's a very slow process and quite and undertaking. Jones says that, right now he has about half of act I written. He didn't say how long he has been working on the project.

Of course, reporters wanted to know about a Led Zep reunion. Although there doesn't seem to be a lot of acrimony between the members, JOnes told the crowd that 2014 was going to be all about opera for him. I have to admit I'd kind of like to hear the finished project, how about you?

We'll keep you posted!
