An argument between neighbors took a turn for the worse Tuesday night after Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies shot a man in his mid-60s.

According KPLC, the shooting occurred south of Lake Charles on Copperleaf Drive at around 7:15 p.m.  Deputies responded to a argument between neighbors involving a gun.  When deputies went to the gunshot victim's home to speak with him, he allegedly came out aiming a shotgun and pointing a Q-beam spotlight.  Deputies fired on him, striking him in the abdomen and the leg.  The extent of his injuries were unknown this morning.

Deputies will have to undergo an internal investigation on the matter, but Sheriff Tony Mancuso defended their actions to KPLC:

"I feel like my deputies did the right thing. The suspect did not comply with their demands and when we are met face to face with a gun we are going to take appropriate action. It's unfortunate that this had to happen, but when a gun is involved -- the suspect usually does not win," said Mancuso. -- KPLCTV.com

No names were released as of last night.  Drugs and alcohol may been involved.
