Lake Charles Man Arrested for Hit and Run Death

A tragic accident on Weaver Road Tuesday night has left one man dead and another under arrest for hitting a pedestrian and failing to stop and render aid to the victim. Sadly, the victim of the hit and run accident died at the scene.

Jeremy Daniels, 27, of Lake Charles was walking along the side of Weaver Road near Ham Reid Road around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night when he was struck and killed by a pick-up truck. The driver did not stop and help but fled the scene of the crime. Now, the driver of the vehicle has been arrested.

According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kim Meyers, Grant T. Henning, 19, of Lake Charles, is accused of being the driver of the vehicle and has been arrested and charged with one count of felony hit-and-run.

Judge Sharon Wilson set bond at $20,000.
