Mayor Proposes To Use Your Tax Dollars To Speed Up Bridge Project

Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter is proposing to use your tax dollars to put together an incentive package for the I-210 Bridge Project contractor to finish earlier than projected. And we aren't talking Monopoly money either!

Mayor Hunter says he wants to allocate three quarters of a million of your tax dollars to the contractor if they can finish 2 months ahead of schedule.

$750,000 on a project that size is not peanuts so to the contractor that incentive may make the difference between them pushing their workers to get finished a little quicker or not - Mayor Nic Hunter

On top of that, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has already approved to pay $375,000 from the Parish's gaming revenue district for early completion.

Hunter also hopes to get local casinos and industries to pitch in too.

So, if by the grace of God, the contractors do finish 2 months earlier than scheduled, they're looking at a FAT extra payday!
