This is the weekend everyone looks forward to. I've seen the Lake Charles lighting ceremony grow so much over the past several years. This Saturday, there's lots of fun in store for everyone and the festivities last all day.

This is Southwest Louisiana and if there's a special day, you gotta have a parade. Beginning at 11 a.m., join Santa for the journey from Mill Street to 7th St. Santa's Workshop will take place from 1-5 p.m. with tiny tots in the Exhibition Hall and ages 6-12 in the Coliseum. The kids will have a great time and there will be games and prizes as well as food and story telling.

The Community Band will perform their traditional Christmas concert starting at 3 p.m. in the second-floor Mezzanine. After the Community Band concert, the entertainment moves to the front lawn of the Lake Charles Civic Center for the official lighting ceremony featuring great holiday entertainment. Mayor Roach will flip the switch to light up the city for Christmas.

I mentioned parades earlier and Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. you'll love the lighted boat parade at the civic center sea wall. The boat parade will be followed by everyone's favorite; the fireworks spectacular! The fireworks kick off at 7:15 p.m. While you watch the fireworks, tune in 92.9 The Lake for the musical soundtrack to those fireworks. Many thanks to Lake Area Office Products!

For entry forms or more information, please contact the City of Lake Charles at 337-491-9159, www.cityoflakecharles.com. These are all free events for the whole family! Merry Christmas from 92.9 The Lake!
