Hard to believe it, but July 4th is only a week away. Here are some of the great family events going on in the area for Independence Day.

Let's start off with Red, White, Blue and You

 Parade lineup begins at 4:30 p.m., with the parade rolling at 6 p.m. The parade route will follow Mill St. turn right onto Ryan St. and end at Lock Park. For parade rules and entry forms, contact the City of Lake Charles at 337-491-9159.

A concert by the bluegrass band Market Blue will follow at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center Arcade Pavilion. The Lake Charles Community Band and the Louisiana Choral Association will present a Salute to Armed Forces at 8 p.m. A fireworks display over the lake will wrap up the evening at about 9:15 p.m. The soundtrack to the fireworks display will be broadcast on 92.9 The Lake, as susal. Turn it up and enjoy the fireworks and music. There will be food vendors on-site. Admission is free.

DeRidder:

Old-fashioned Fourth of July Celebration: July 4 from 7-9 p.m. at the Amerisafe Pavilion on Washington Ave. The City of DeRidder will provide free hamburgers, hot dogs and watermelons. Drinks will be sold for $1. Activities will include tug-of-war, a bounce house, a pie eating contest and more. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display. Fort Polk:

FreedomFest: July 4 at 5 p.m. at HeadQuarters Field on Fort Polk. Food vendors will be on-site. Carnival rides and games will be available. Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown will perform at 6 p.m., followed by a 50-gun salute. Country music group Little Big Town will perform at 8:15 p.m. A fireworks display will be held at 9:45 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. On-site parking will not be allowed. Jennings:

Stars & Stripes Celebration: July 3 at 4 p.m. at the Louisiana Oil & Gas Park on Hwy 26 near Interstate 10. Admission is $3 for adults. Children ages 12 and under get in free. There will be live music, waterslides, fun jumps and food and craft vendors. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs, but ice chests will not be allowed. Performers will include Muzic Unlimited and Jamie Bergeron & the Kickin' Cajuns. A fireworks display will be held at 9 p.m.
