Authorities are searching for a man who escaped from the Cameron Parish Jail Tuesday night.

Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson said Billy James Lacombe, 45, has an extensive criminal record and should be considered dangerous.

Johnson said Lacombe, 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, yellow T-shirt, black shorts and no shoes.

According to Johnson, human error lead to the escape but it is still under investigation. Wilfred Lacombe, 49, and Karen Guidry, 22, have been charged with assisting the escape. Wilfred Lacombe is Billy Lacombe's brother, Johnson said.

Billy Lacombe's criminal history includes armed robbery and carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-775-5111.
