I was going to title this "Imaginary group has real problems" but the Monkess, no matter how they were originally cast, are a very real group.  Since MTV revived their careers back in the 80's, the "pre-fab four" ( sorry for using that tired cliche) have been on the road a lot!

It's fairly well known that Davey Jones has grown into a sullen bitter man and that Mike Nesmith only performs when he wants, but rumors really started flying when the group canceled it's remaining Summer Tour dates. What had happened to actually stop the money machine?

The Monkees ain’t too busy to put anybody down these days… because they’re coming out swinging against the people they blame for screwing up the rest of their concert tour. The band announced they would be canceling the remaining 9 dates on their U.S. tour, but they wouldn’t explain why. Now, TMZ has spoken to a rep for Monkee Micky Dolenz, who said, “Management had booked a number of dates with the venues without running them by the group first, so we had to cancel the remaining dates.” The rep added, “Micky is disappointed but his solo tour is still going strong for the rest of the year.” There are rumors that the tour was canned because Dolenz had checked himself into rehab for substance abuse problems, but the rep said that the tour being canceled has nothing to do with “any sort of substance abuse whatsoever.”
