My nephew has a name for people who are so wrapped up in themselves that other peoples problems, feelings or safety don't matter. The word is "obliviot." It's a cross between "oblivious" and "idiot."

It seems that there are more obliviots than ever before. People who consider common courtesy beneath them. They block the aisles in stores, walk in front of you, cut you off in traffic and treat salespeople and wait staff with total disdain.

It's bad enough that such people are just down right rude, but when they endanger lives they really cross the line.

A judge in Cleveland got a chance to teach one such person a lesson

A woman who was caught on video driving along a sidewalk to avoid a stopped school bus has been ordered to wear an “idiot” sign at the intersection where it happened. Shena Hardin, 32, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty to not stopping for a school bus and reckless operation. A Cleveland Municipal Court judge ordered her driver’s license suspended for 30 days and to pay $250 in court costs. As part of the sentence, Hardin must also must wear a sign that reads, “Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid the school bus” for an hour a day for two days next week at the intersection where the incident occurred. Hardin was arrested on September 11th after a veteran school bus driver Uriah Herron noticed Hardin pull her driving stunt several times and recorded one incident on his cell phone camera.

Let's hear it for the bus driver and the judge!
