Charter captains wanted it, private fishermen didn’t and the 5^th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans this week refused to strike down a federal rule that limits private anglers a mere nine days of red fishing in the Gulf, while charter boat, commercial operators get forty days.

The commercial captains say it’s better this way for people that like to fish but don’t own a boat, while private recreational anglers complain there’s not enough time.
