French Onion Soup is something I always considered a fine dining restaurant recipe or a special treat from my mother-in-law.  It is one of those dishes that make you feel like you're being treated like royalty, even though it is simply soup.

Until  discovering this recipe, I had never considered making it myself, in my own kitchen.  I'm not really sure why, but it seemed like you should have a chef's certification to even attempt it.  However, after reading Sam's recipe and instructions, I realized that it might not be as challenging as I had assumed.

I did ask the chef what he uses for his beef broth and got the insider information directly from Sam.  Now, brace yourself!  The secret ingredient is Swansons Beef Broth (Low sodium) bought directly from the grocery store aisle.  How awesome is that?!!
Now, the next time I have a dinner party, I can treat my guest like royalty and serve French Onion Soup made with the recipe from Sams Place.  Or, I might just plan a special dinner for two and treat my "sweetie" like the king of my heart that he is.
