Hi, My Name is….

Hi, my name is Mikey O!  I wanted to say hi and tell you a little bit about myself.

First of all, you'll have to excuse my hair spikes on my photo.  I got crazy with the gel that day apparently.

My full name is Mike Oleander.  I grew up in Moss Bluff and went to Sam Houston High School and graduated with a Bachelors in Mass Communications from McNeese State University in 2007.

I've known I wanted to be a radio DJ since I was 8.  As every other kid did in SWLA during the 90s we listened to Bayou 104.  My favorite DJ there was Dave "The Beastman" Savage.  He did the Top 8 at 8.  If you got on to name the 8 songs back to Dave, you were a celebrity at school the next day.  I can say without a doubt, Dave and his show are the reason I fell in love with radio.  If anyone knows him personally, let him know I said thank you!

I've been married to my wife Amanda for 15 years and we have two children, Elijah (10) and Khloe (8).  My wife is a Westlake girl, which is funny because when we were in high school I couldn't stand Westlake.  The "Westfork" rivalry was crazy real, both sides hated each other with a passion.

My junior year some people from Westlake spray painted our brand new gym and football field a few weeks before the game.  YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Now with Sam Houston being 5A, there's no such thing, and that's sad.  In my opinion, both schools need to rekindle the fire that was the yearly 1st game match up of the season between the Broncos and the Rams.  Anyways, I digress.

Things that I'm interested in:  my family, radio, professional wrestling, football, video games, poetry, food, napping, and did I mention food?

I love our culture here in SWLA, from the music to the food, it's home!
