There is probably not a family anywhere in this area who has not been touched in some way by heart disease. Did you know that heart disease is this country's #1 killer, and that stroke is the #5 killer?

This Saturday, at the Lake Charles Civic Center, the American Heart Association's Heart Walk will get underway to raise funds and awareness of stroke and heart disease, but it's more than just a fundraiser. It's also a day to celebrate and to promote awareness, physical activity, and heart-healthy living. Your entire family will find the event very educational and rewarding in many ways.

This Saturday, in addition to the walk here in Lake Charles, more than a million people will take part in some 350 events! Those of us here at Townsquare Media are very proud and happy to be a part of this year's Heart Walk, and we hope you will team up with family and friends to make this the biggest Heart Walk in Lake Charles' history.

Check-in for the walk will be Saturday morning at 8 a.m., and the three-mile walk will begin at 9 a.m. at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Team up with friends, family, and co-workers and walk as a team. The goal this year is $140,000, and so far the amount raised is roughly $60,000. As you can see, we have a ways to go to reach that goal, so get on those walking shoes and join us Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
