Anyone living in Southwest Louisiana can tell you the worst part of any hurricane season is the months of August and September. We are almost there. A sure sign that we are into the meat of the season is when tropical waves start moving off the African coast and build all the way across the Atlantic. The first of those is now moving off the coast of Africa.

The system is very small now and has only a 10% chance off forming into a tropical depression during the next 48 hours. Thought this storm features a strong counterclockwise rotation already ... it is being followed by a large swath of dry air that will hinder it's development. The sheer fact that it is there signals a move into the heart of the tropical season. The wave is currently located about 500 miles east southeast of the Cape Verde Islands. We will keep you updated.

Now is a good time to stock up on hurricane supplies.
